LimCo International participates in several national and international interdisciplinary projects related to

  1. development and application of online biotests,
  2. scientific studies on behaviour and ecology of aquatic organisms,
  3. scientific studies in ecotoxicology and sediment-toxicology,
  4. in situ Rapid Toxicity Testing (RTT) methods

Pollution assessment

The diagnosis of pollution incidents as well as longterm trend biomonitoring of surface waters, e.g. after rehabilitation measures, are performed by LimCo International based on

  1. Macroinvertebrate communities,
  2. Macrophyte-flora,
  3. Diatom-flora (in cooperation with specialists),
  4. Morphological biomarkers,
  5. Behavioural effect monitoring.

Aquatic ecotoxicology and sediment toxicology

LimCo International offers classical toxicity testing following international guidelines (OECD, DIN), LimCo offers additionally new promising non-standardised tests, increasing the ecological relevance due to

  1. Toxicity testing with other locally important invertebrates (e.g. Gammarus pulex)
  2. Toxicity testing with more sensitive parameters (e.g. behavioural stress, emergence, morphological deformities)

Faunistics

LimCo International offers consultancies on Chironomidae, Molluscs, species lists of macroinvertebrates and determination of diatoms.

River management

LimCo International offers concepts for pollution remediation, river rehabilitation and restoration, catchment plans and assistance in (inter)national monitoring programs.

Databank

LimCo International performs databank searches on keywords related to aquatic pollution and toxicology. LimCo International has an own databank on metal pollution/toxicology, online biomonitoring, Gammarus sp., Chironomidae, aquatic pollution in Africa.

Education

LimCo International has experience and offers external supervision of Diploma-, Masters- and PhD-theses of students from all countries. Professional stages and practicals in our current projects are always possible. The work is applied, informal, international and result-oriented.
